Deadline of Regular Inspections for Registered Motorcycles from April till October extended till the end of the year due to COVID-19

Due to the severe COVID-19 outbreak, the Environmental Protection Administration of the Executive Yuan has notified today that the deadline of exhaust inspections for registered motorcycles have been extended until December 31st, 2021. The County’s original Measures of Convenience that were valid till the end of July have also been extended till the end of the year, allowing everyone to do their part in preventing the COVID-19 epidemic. With the Central Epidemic Command Center’s announcement that the national epidemic alert level has been upgraded to the Level 3 and in view of peoples’ rights and interests, the deadline for exhaust inspections of motorcycles has been extended due to: having to comply with epidemic alert control measures or undergo quarantine/work remotely; or public/private locations (including motorcycle exhaust inspection stations) adjusting business operations due to epidemic prevention regulations. There 127 motorcycle exhaust inspection stations in the county that still provide regular inspection services, and those that need to under regular inspections can still go to these stations or call in advance to avoid long queues of motorcycles and crowds of people. The Bureau’s Regular Motorcycle Emission Inspection and Pollution Control Website (URL: https://ylepb-rmei.easylife.net.tw/) has the Regular Motorcycle Inspection SMS registration feature, and people can register on the website to get SMS notifications to remind them of their regular inspections. People can call the EPA consultation hotline at 05-5375216 during normal business hours if they have any other questions, and specialists will be on the phone to provide answers. Deputy Director Huang stated that these are the corresponding measures: (1) motorcycles that have been registered and left the factory for more than 5 years, and registrations issued April to October have had the regular inspection deadline for 2021 extended till December 31st, 2021. (2) From April 15th to November 30th, 2021, motorcycles that haven’t met the Air Emission Standards of Mobile Source can complete the confirmatory inspection and improvement before the extended deadline of December 31st, 2021. People are urged not to go out unless it’s necessary, and should wear masks while maintaining social distancing when going out.
