Haven’t Checked Your Scooter Exhaust Emission Yet? NTD 2,000 Fine for Violators
The regulation regarding the valid period for the scooter/motorcycle exhaust emission test was amended and promulgated on Nov. 11, 2010. A scooter should regularly receive the test five years, originally three years, after it is manufactured. Please be kindly reminded that scooter owners who do not have their scooters regularly tested will be fined NTD 2,000 by the Environmental Protection Bureau, Yunlin County, in accordance with the Air Pollution Control Act.

The Environmental Protection Bureau is now conducting roadblocks throughout the county for the exhaust emission test. Scooters that do not pass the test should be rectified and re-examined within one month. Scooter owners who do not satisfactorily complete the re-examination within the designated period will be fined NTD 1,500. The Environmental protection Bureau hopes that the roadblocks can highlight the importance of regular exhaust emission tests. Regularly having your scooters examined will not only keep you from a fine but will also improve air quality.

To find out where your scooter can be examined in Yunlin County, please go to http://www.motorim.org.tw/ or call (05) 537-5216, the direct line of the Environmental Protection Bureau.
