2,000 Environmental Protection Volunteers (Voluntary Workers) Gathered in Yunlin to Brainstorm and Display their Vibrancy

 The Environmental Protection Administration, Executive Yuan, R.O.C. (Taiwan) and the Yunlin County Government jointly held the “2019 National Environmental Protection Volunteers (voluntary workers) Distinguished Gathering” at the Yunlin County Stadium today, letting the volunteers (voluntary workers) enthusiastically involved in everyday enviornmental protection affairs have fun and show off their vibrant side. Director-general Zhang, Zi-Jing of the Environmental Protection Administration Executive Yuan, R.O.C. (Taiwan) and County Magistrate Zhang, Li-Shan of Yunlin County especially attended the gathering in person to cheer for the volunteers (voluntary workers) nationwide and get the show started. More than 2,000 environmental protection volunteers (voluntary workers) from 22 counties and cities were the best of the best selected from the preliminary competitions held in the counties and cities. All the participants went on a fun environmental knowledge competition, making every effort to win glory for their counties and cities.

 According to Director-General Zhang from the Environmental Protection Administration, Executive Yuan, R.O.C. (Taiwan), the environmental protection volunteers are involved in seven fields: environmental education, energy conservation and carbon reduction, environmental greening, river inspection, environmental cleaning, recycling, green living, and consumption. Environmental protection is a global issue, and Taiwan as a member of the global village certainly cannot detach itself from it. Currently, there are over 3,700 environmental protection volunteer teams under local environmental protection agencies, with a number of environmental protection volunteers who play vital roles in environmental protection policy promotion reaching 180,000 persons. Director-General Zhang would like to extend gratitude to the environmental protection volunteers (voluntary workers) nationwide for assisting in promoting relevant policies and ensuring the smooth promoting of various environmental protection tasks. It is expected that with the efforts of the central and local governments, all the citizens will share sound life quality that is both environmentally friendly and healthy.

 According to the Environmental Protection Administration, Executive Yuan, R.O.C. (Taiwan), through the conduction of the “2019 National Environmental Protection Volunteers (Volutary Workers) Distinguished Gathering,” the environmental knowledge of the envionremntal protection vounters (voluntary workers) will be enhanced, while a platform will be provided for the volunteers (voluntary workers) to engage in mutual exchanges with other teams, thereby strnethening the cohesion of the volunteers (voluntary workers). This year’s competition included four categories that incorporated puzzle games, fun, and teamwork elements in the design: Environmental Cheerleaders, Environmental Gold Brain, Environmental Defense Battle, and Resource Classification Champion. During the competition process, environmental protection knowledge Q&A was adopted for interaction, achieving the purpose of teaching and fun, and letting volunteers (voluntary workers) exemplify good team spirit, as well as environmental protection knowledge and skills.

 This year’s event was moved to and staged in Yunlin. Known as the “Granary of Taiwan,” Yunlin County, combining its local characteristics, especially invited the Electric-Techno Neon Gods from the Beigang Taizi Association and Fang, Ning (also known as Feng, Fei-Fei Junior) to serve as the performance team. Souvenirs with local characteristics were also chosen, including Yu Ping Soy Paste, Soy Sauce, Model Rice, etc. as participation prizes awarded to volunteers (volunteering workers) nationwide who came from afar to take part. Additionally, the Yunlin Government also arranged various local cuisine businesses to set up booths on the site, and volunteers (voluntary workers) were invited to indulge in Yunlin’s local specialty food, thereby jointly promoting a circular economy of goodness.

 After a full day of competition, the Yunlin County environmental protection volunteer team, as the home team and with the collaborated efforts of the volunteers, lived up to expectations after fiercely competing with 22 elite teams from 22 counties and cities, winning three categories including: Environmental Cheerleaders: (Creative Performance Award: Gukeng Township Xinzhuang Community Development Association Environmental Protection Volunteer Team), Environmental Defense Battle: (Winner: Dounan Township Humanities Association Environmental Protection Volunteer Team), and Resource Classification Champion: (Winner: Douliu City Gouba Community Development Association Environmental Protection Volunteer Team), with excellent results. According to the County Magistrate Zhang, Li-Shan of Yunlin County, in addition to recognizing the teamwork and sportsmanship displayed by the volunteers during to the competition, the most cordial gratitude is extended to the volunteers for their continuous hard work.

 Towards the end of the event and witnessed by all the participants, Director-General Huang, Shi-Han from the Yunlin County Environmental Protection Bureau handed the assembly flag to the Tainan City Government who will be the organizer next year. Director Lin, Yuan-Cong on behalf of the Tainan City Environmental Protection Bureau accepted the flag. Through the flag passing that symbolizes the spirit of environmental protection volunteers (voluntary workers), we look forward to seeing you in Tainan next year.
